The present invention relates to a field emission device and a manufacturing method thereof. The field emission device includes an anode electrode and a cathode electrode which face each other, a counter layer which is formed on the anode electrode, and a field emitter which is formed on the cathode electrode and faces the counter layer. The field emitter includes a carbon nanotube which emits cold electrons and a photoelectric material which emits a photoelectron.
