An objective of the present invention is to provide a prismatic battery having a structure which is more resilient to oscillations or shocks. This prismatic battery (1) comprises: an oblate-shaped electrode coil group (4) which is configured by coiling electrode sheets (11, 12) around a plate-shaped winding core (14); a prismatic battery container (2) which houses the electrode coil group (2); a lid (3) which closes off an aperture part (2a) which is opened in the battery container (2); and electrode connection terminals (43, 53) which are disposed in the lid (3). This prismatic battery has a configuration in which the winding core (14) of the electrode coil group (4) is movably supported in the height direction of the battery container (2) and the electrode coil group (4) is impelled in the height direction of the battery container (2), either approaching or moving away from the aperture part (2a) within the battery container (2), and the electrode connection terminals (43, 53) and the electrode coil group (4) are connected to one another in a manner allowing movement relative to one another. |
