PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent expansion of the top end of an embankment and the following vertical crack in a rational method.
SOLUTION: This earthquake strengthening structure 1 for the embankment is applied to the embankment 2 on which a railway track (not illustrated) is laid. The embankment is constructed on a liquefied ground 3 layered on a supporting base 4. On the liquefied ground 3, steel sheet piles 6, 6 opposing each other are arranged as a pair of underground walls which are extended downward from near the normal haunches of the embankment 2 and between which the liquefied ground 3 is held. The steel sheet piles 6, 6 are connected at their upper edges to each other via a tie-rod 5 as a tensile material. Herein, the steel sheet piles 6, 6 are each inclined an arrangement angleθto a vertical plane so that a clearance therebetween at their lower edges is shorter than a clearance therebetween at their upper edges, namely, an inverted truncated shevron shape is established.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
|
