摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the thermal decomposition resistance of a polymer having an iodine atom on the terminal to reduce the coloration of a molded article. <P>SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a polymer (B) includes a terminal treatment step of reacting a polymer (A) obtained by radically polymerizing a vinyl monomer with at least one of a weak base salt and a compound represented by formula (1) in the presence of an organoiodide to thereby obtain the polymer (B) being the polymer (A) whose terminal has been treated. The weak base salt is preferably a carbonate salt, a hydrogencarbonate salt, an organic acid salt or a phosphate salt. In the radical polymerization step, additionally the presence of a phosphorus compound, a nitrogen compound or an oxygen compound is preferable.
