<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grid spacer for a boiling water reactor fuel assembly, capable of increasing buckling strength of the spacer under external loads while maintaining the thermal hydraulic compatibility thereof without increasing the strength of the spacer material. <P>SOLUTION: A grid spacer comprises longitudinal and lateral grid plates 22T, 22Y placed perpendicular to each other to form a plurality of cells 20C for supporting fuel rods 10FB of a fuel assembly 10, where the grid plates 22T, 22Y form a partitioned space 20S in the center of the spacer for a water pipe 10WP to run through. Water pipe supporting means 30 for supporting the water pipe 10WP includes a longitudinal-lateral grid plate forming part 32 that engages with and holding the water pipe 10WP, and the longitudinal-lateral grid plate forming part 32 includes corrugated portions with rectangular valley sections so as to absorb external loads on the longitudinal and lateral grid plates 22T, 22Y by being elastically deformed thereby. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
