<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately protect an exhaust emission control system while suppressing degradation in fuel economy. <P>SOLUTION: A degradation suppression control device for an exhaust emission control device is applied to a system which includes: a catalyst 17 as the exhaust emission control device in an exhaust path of an engine 10; and a cooling device 30 for the engine 10. The degradation suppression control device includes an ECU 50 which determines whether the exhaust temperature is within a predetermined high temperature range where the catalyst 17 may degrade by the exhaust heat. When the exhaust temperature is determined to be in the predetermined range, the degradation suppression control device carries out a cooling improving process of improving an engine cooling performance of the engine cooling device 30 as a cooling device, and also carries out an ignition advance process of advancing an ignition timing of the engine 10 after starting the cooling improving process. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
