1. A method comprising:
receiving, by a computer based system configured for processing a transaction, a first attempt of a transaction request from a merchant point of sale system; declining, by the computer based system, the first attempt of the transaction request; transmitting, by the computer based system, a first passively pushed message to an application associated with a transaction account holder, in response to and substantially in concert with the declined first attempt of the transaction request; receiving, by the computer based system, a response to the first passively pushed message; storing, by the computer based system, a preauthorization of a second attempt of the transaction request in response to the response to the first passively pushed message meeting pre-established criteria; transmitting, by the computer based system, a second passively pushed message to the application associated with the transaction account holder; receiving, by the computer based system, the second attempt of the transaction request from the merchant point of sale system; and authorizing, by the computer based system, the second attempt of the transaction request.
