The invention relates to a modified carbon black having an annealed surface, to a composition containing the same and to a process for preparing the said modified carbon black. According to the invention, the carbon black belongs to the reinforcing class with a STSA of 70...250 m/g, a PAH22 content of up to 75 ppm, with at least one chemical group attached and/or absorbed thereto, which is selected from triazole, pyrazole and imidazole. The composition, as claimed by the invention, comprises modified carbon black and at least one elastomer. The claimed process consists in contacting a carbon black starting material with a hot gas flow of 1200...1800°C, in order to obtain carbon black with an annealed surface and a PAH content of up to 75 ppm, after which one or several chemical groups are attached and/or absorbed on such a carbon black to obtain a modified carbon black. |
