Disclosed are ureidoisoquinoline derivatives as represented by the general formula (I), wherein the substituents are as defined in the specification. These compounds are useful for the prevention or the treatment of bacterial infections and are are useful antimicrobial agents effective against a variety of human and veterinary pathogens including among others Gram-positive and Gram-negative aerobic and anaerobic bacteria and mycobacteria.
