Disclosed is a flexible helmet cover (12) including a lighting system (13) integrated into the helmet cover (12). The cover (12) includes a first flexible layer, a plurality of light emitting devices (14) mounted to the first flexible layer, and a circuit board (16) mounted to the first flexible layer for controlling the light emitting devices (14). Wires (17) link the light emitting devices (14) to the circuit board (16) and a second flexible layer is fixably attached to the first flexible layer thereby providing an area between the first flexible layer and the second flexible layer for the light emitting devices (14), circuit board (16), and wires (17). The first flexible layer and the second flexible layer permit the flexible helmet cover (12) to be mountable over the outer shell of a helmet (11). A power source (21) is fixably attached to the second flexible layer and powers the circuit board (16) and light emitting devices (14). An operating means is functionally linked to the circuit board (16) and operates the circuit board. |
