The present invention encompasses a method for the production of human ApoA-1 protein muteins in dimeric and/or oligomeric forms (comprising three or more units) in plant seeds, novel variants of these proteins having an increased stability and capacity to transport cholesterol compared to the native ApoA-1 protein. The invention also relates to an expression system of said mutein, plants transformed capable of producing said mutein in seeds in dimeric and/or oligomeric forms, and nutraceutical derivatives, comprising said mutein. |
