A benzoylpyrazole compound or its salt, which is 5-hydroxy-1-methylpyrazol-4-yl 3-(2-methoxyethoxy)-2-methyl-4-(methylsulfonyl) phenyl ketone or 5-hydroxy-1-ethylpyrazol-4-yl 3- (2-methoxyethoxy)-2-methyl-4- (methylsulfonyl) phenyl ketone; a process for producing a benzoylpyrazole compound represented by the formula (II) or its salt:
wherein R 1 is methyl or ethyl, R 2 is a hydrogen atom, R 4 is methyl, R 5 is 2-methoxyethoxy, R 6 is methylsulfonyl, which comprises rearrangement a compound represented by the formula (VII):
