摘要 818,183. Converting. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. May 17, 1956 [May 31, 1955], No. 15393/56. Class 38 (2). [Also in Group XL (c)] In an inverter circuit, a transistor 1 is arranged as an oscillator with the emitter-collector path in series with a supply 12 and the primary 13 of a transformer, a winding 26 in series with a bias source 21 being coupled to the primary to provide feedback in the base-emitter circuit, and a centre-tapped secondary 27 feeding rectifiers 34, 36 to supply D.C. to a load 38. Upon closing switch 8 the collector current builds up at a rate primarily determined by the inductance of winding 13, a voltage proportional to the rate of change of collector current being fed to the base to maintain a flow of base current, Fig. 2 (not shown). The collector current continues to increase until limited by the transistor characteristics, whereupon feedback ceases and the base and collector currents fall to zero. The fall in collector potential produces an inverse pulse across winding 13 and a corresponding pulse across winding 26. The inverse voltages under no-load condition determine the maximum supply potential 12 which may be utilized, but this may be increased by employing an energy-absorbing device 31, 32 which limits the amplitude of these voltages, Fig. 2 (not shown).
