An expensive equipment known as MASS SPECTROMETER (needing a big room for its installation) is so far used to study vibratonal and rotational molecular spectra.. Hereafter their analysis can be made by a simulated mechanical model of mass spectrometer titled NANOSPECTROSCOPE. It consists of an approximately square shaped card board display unit mounted on the modified tip of hollow shaft at its C.G. (Centre of Gravity) containing the refill of a ball point pen, driven by the manual impulsive force caused by slipping the grip of forefinger and thumb, as in a toy-gyro (top). The display board of size (10cm x 10cm) revolves around the C.G. representing the nucleus of an atom. Equally spaced horizontal lines are drawn with a marker pen either on the top or bottom half of the display unit. The line passing through C.G. is taken as the time axis of the system. The width of the board when halved (5cm) becomes the time period ‘T’ of one revolution. The lines appear as circles, when the board is rotated with a speed above 16Hz either in horizontal/vertical or inclined plane; time axis disappears due to optical illusion. In this invention a di-atomic molecule is selected to study the spectra of gases, liquids and solids.
|
