Provided is a sliding component that achieves both of the conflicting conditions of sealing and lubrication, that prevents the concentration of a substance that causes sediment to occur on a sliding surface by actively taking a fluid into the sliding surface and discharging the fluid from the sliding surface, and that thereby prevents the occurrence of sediment and makes it possible to maintain the sealing function of the sliding surface over a long period of time. The sliding component is characterized in that: a fluid circulation groove (10) that is configured from an inlet section (10a) that leads in from a high-pressure fluid side, an outlet section (10b) that leads out to the high-pressure fluid side, and a connecting section (10c) that connects the inlet section and the outlet section is provided to the sliding surface of at least one of a pair of sliding components that slide relative to each other; the fluid circulation groove (10) is separated from a low-pressure fluid side by a land section (R); and a cross section of the bottom wall of the fluid circulation groove (10) is formed to have a round-bottomed shape. |
