The present invention relates to a liquid crystal display device and a method for manufacturing the same. The liquid crystal display device has a color filter on TFT (COT) structure for high definition and high performance display. A color pigment lamination and a light blocking pattern in a black matrix area function as a black matrix. Black visual sensitivity is provided by forming the light blocking pattern to have triple layers so that visual sensitivity difference between a pixel part and outer part can be improved. The liquid crystal device includes: a gate line and a data line which are formed on a first substrate and are overlapped by each other to define a red pixel area, a green pixel area, and a blue pixel area; a thin film transistor formed where the gate line and the data line are overlapped by each other; a red color filter, a green color filter, and blue color filter formed in the red pixel area, the green pixel area, and the blue pixel area of the first substrate where the thin film transistor is formed; a light blocking layer formed by laminating the color pigments of the red color filter and the blue color filter in a vertical boundary between the pixel areas; a plurality of common electrodes and pixel electrodes formed in the pixel areas of the first substrate which includes the red color filter, the green color filter, and the blue color filter and the light blocking layer; the light blocking pattern formed on a horizontal boundary of the pixel areas on the data line; and a second substrate laminated to face the first substrate. The common electrodes, the pixel electrodes, and the light blocking pattern have a triple-layered structure consisting of an upper layer, a lower layer, which have low reflection and low transmittance properties, and a middle layer having transmittance properties. |
