The present invention relates to a transformant having Schizosaccharomyces pombe as the host, the transformant incorporating a D-lactate dehydrogenase gene from bacteria of the genus Pediococcus and a D-lactate dehydrogenase gene from bacteria of the genus Lactobacillus and deleting or inactivating some of the genes among a gene group encoding pyruvate decarboxylase in the Schizosaccharomyces pombe host.
