DYNAMIC GAME DECOY

An apparatus and method for attracting game animals such as a turkey. An asymmetric canopy is provided with the image of a game animal such as a turkey. The canopy is coupled to a shaft and a plurality of extensible rib assemblies. A runner provided along the shaft and coupled to the extensible rib assemblies deploys and collapses the canopy as the runner is moved back and forth. The canopy is provided with a truncated flat bottom so as not to interfere with a hunters feet when the hunter is moving and to reduce snagging of the canopy on weeds and brush. The canopy may be deployed and collapsed to mimic the action of a strutting tom turkey.

1. An asymmetric decoy comprising:
(a) an asymmetric canopy having a first generally flat side and a second generally flat side, wherein the first generally flat side is at least twice as long as the second generally flat side; (b) a shaft extending at least partially below the canopy; (c) a slide slidably coupled to the shaft; (d) a plurality of first extensible rib assemblies coupled between the canopy and the shaft; (e) a second extensible rib assembly, coupled between the canopy and the shaft; (f) wherein the second extensible rib assembly is shorter than the plurality of first extensible rib assemblies; (g) wherein the slide is slidable between a first position, where the first extensible rib assemblies and second extensible rib assembly collapse the asymmetric canopy, and a second position where the where the first extensible rib assemblies and second extensible rib assembly open the asymmetric canopy; (h) wherein when in the second position, the first generally flat side is closer to the shaft than the second generally flat side.
