The lever-operated water mixing tap comprises a brake (1) for limiting the flow rate of water, thereby saving on its use. The brake is an independent part which can be inserted into any type of mixing valve and makes it possible to reduce the size of the diaphragm of the water inlet duct. The brake can also be integrated directly into mixing valves by their manufacturers.
