PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector that can prevent the occurrence of flicker that can occur due to the rotation drive of a rotating fluorescent screen.SOLUTION: A projector 1 includes: a solid light source 11 that emits excitation light; a rotating fluorescent screen 13 that converts the excitation light into fluorescent light; liquid crystal optical modulation devices 30R, 30G, and 30B that modulate the light from the rotating fluorescent screen 13; a projection optical system 50 that projects the modulated light on a screen SCR; and a control device 60 that controls the solid light source 11 and rotating fluorescent screen 13 so as to satisfy any one of relational expressions of A=B, A=2B, and |A-B|≥20 and |A-2B|≥20, where A[Hz] is the pulse width modulation control frequency of the solid light source 11, and B[Hz] is the rotational frequency of the rotating fluorescent screen 13. |
