DECONTAMINATION APPARATUS AND DECONTAMINATION METHOD FOR SOIL CONTAINING RADIOACTIVE SUBSTANCES

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a decontamination apparatus and a decontamination method capable of efficiently contaminating a wide range of soil containing radioactive substances.SOLUTION: A decontamination apparatus A includes: a pair of electrodes 1 and 2 arranged to interpose soil S containing radioactive substances therebetween; a DC power supply 3 applying a voltage to the paired electrodes 1 and 2; and adsorbent 4 arranged near the electrode 2 and adsorbing the radioactive substances. The radioactive substances present in the soil S as ions can be moved to the electrode 2 by applying the voltage to the paired electrodes 1 and 2. The soil S can be decontaminated by allowing the adsorbent 4 to adsorb the radioactive substances moved to the neighborhoods of the electrodes 2.
