PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method of a diaphragm mechanism capable of reducing the state where a number plate or the like is made hard to see by flare caused by headlights of a vehicle, when monitoring a parking lot or the like by means of a monitoring camera at nighttime, and a camera apparatus.SOLUTION: A frame member 31 is disposed in such a manner that a circular opening 311 is positioned on an imaging axial line BM of a camera apparatus 10. Diaphragm blades 32 and 33 include linear opening edges 321 and 332, are supported by the frame member 31, and made proximate to and separate from each other in a direction orthogonal to the imaging axial line BM. When controlling such a diaphragm mechanism 30, in the case where ambient lightness becomes equal to or lower than a predetermined value, a control part 38 forcibly opens the diaphragm mechanism 30 and adjusts the quantity of light by means of a variable electronic shutter. Thus, since the diaphragm mechanism 30 opens the diaphragm blades 32 and 33, flare generated in the linear opening edges 321 and 331 of the diaphragm blades 32 and 33 by headlights of a vehicle or the like is mitigated and the state where a number plate or the like is made hard to see can be reduced. |
