The present invention relates to a trailing shield jig installed in a small diameter orbital device to weld all of a root layer, an intermediate layer, and a surface layer; and an existing close-type small diameter orbital welding device used to weld only the root layer. According to the present invention, the open-type small diameter orbital trailing shield jig comprises: a shield jig body mounted on a pipe; a hole to weld-form on the shield jig body as an opening to insert a torch and a wire supply part; a fixed part fixated on an orbital head to rotate 360 degree with the head; a toggle latch which can conveniently separate and fixate when the trailing shield jig is mounted on the pipe to be welded; a fitting to supply argon gas; a shield hole part to uniformly disperse the argon gas; and a sponge to prevent an inflow of external air and leakage of a shield gas to the outside.
