PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester film which suppresses the melt pressure low in producing the polyester film, can reduce the replacement frequency of a filter, has a small cyclic trimer content in the film and can be suitably used for a touch panel.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for producing a polyester film in which a polyester layer is formed by melt-extruding a polyester resin containing 60 wt.% or more of a polyester (A) having a terminal carboxyl group amount (AV) of 20 equivalent/t or less and an intrinsic viscosity of 0.65 dl/g or less.
