The present invention further relates to methods of preventing and treating relapse leukemia in a subject based on the determined prognosis of the subject.

A method of determining a subject's risk of developing relapse leukemia, said method comprising: providing an isolated biological sample from a subject having leukemia; contacting the sample with one or more reagents suitable for detecting the presence or absence of one or more mutations in one or more genes selected from the group consisting of NT5C2, RGS12, LPHN1, CAND1, PRMT2,NIPSNAP1, USP7, TULP4, CBX3, COBRA1, SDF2, FBXO3, SCARF1, NEGR1, DPH5, SMEK2, MIER3, DOPEY1, ZNF192, EVI2A, GSPT2, and MYC; detecting the presence or absence of the one or more mutations in the one or more genes based on said contacting; and determining the subject's prognosis based on said detecting, wherein the presence of the one or more mutations in the one or more said genes predicts an increased likelihood the subject will develop relapse leukemia.
