The present invention relates to a touch screen device and a method for operating the same. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the touch screen device includes: a driving circuit unit which divides a driving signal into multiple time sections and sequentially applies the driving signal to a plurality of first electrodes; a detection circuit unit which obtains a plurality of detection signals from a plurality of second electrodes formed to be overlapped by the first electrodes; a signal conversion unit which converts the detection signals into digital signals; and a buffer unit which receives the detection signals from the detection circuit unit, holds the detection signals for a predetermined time, and then provides the detection signals to the signal conversion unit. The signal conversion unit can convert the detection signals, generated according to driving signals applied to a previous time section, into digital signals in a present time section among the time sections.
