The object of the invention is a method and an apparatus for lubrication of a regulating unit that has been bearing-mounted in its place and that rotates round its centre axis (1) according to which method lubricant is led at least from one lubricant container to the place to be lubricated. There is fixed to the axis (1) essentially in its direction at least one lubrication line that consists of a lubricant container (3), a piston (4) and a canal from the mentioned container to the place to be lubricated. Using a manually operated usage organ (12), the thrust bearing (11) and the support ring (10) are pressed a certain distance (c) to the direction of the shaft and thus the support ring presses the pistons (4) in the lubricant container (3) deeper essentially the same distance and the pistons press a certain amount of the lubricant (13) into the channels (7) through which the lubricant goes to the places to be lubricated. It is possible to use dose feeders (6) in the method that dose the lubricant that has been led into the channels (7) to transmit the lubricant in certain doses into the places to be lubricated.
