Provided is a linear motion-rotational motion device that is capable of achieving both linear motion along a first direction of an article supporting unit and rotational motion around the axis of motion while suppressing an increase in size and weight. A linear motion-rotational motion device comprises: a supporting unit (23) that supports a member to be controlled (24), provided integrally with an article supporting unit (S), so as to freely rotate about an axis of motion (X1) and so as to freely move along a first direction (D1); and a linear moving body (21a) that moves along the first direction (D1) by way of a driving unit (M1). The member to be controlled (24) is coupled to the linear moving body (21a) at a portion distant from the axis of motion (X1) in the direction as viewed from the axis of motion (X1). The linear motion-rotational motion device comprises an operation state switching unit (L) that freely switches between a linear motion state in which rotational motion around the axis of motion (X1) of the member to be controlled (24) is restricted and movement along the first direction (D1) of the member to be controlled (24) is permitted and a rotational state in which the rotational motion around the axis of motion (X1) of the member to be controlled (24) is permitted and the movement along the first direction (D1) of the member to be controlled (24) is restricted. |
