In the present invention, disclosed are an apparatus for controlling drive away release in an electronic parking brake system and a method thereof. According to the present invention, the apparatus for controlling drive away release in an electronic parking brake system comprises: a neutral switch detecting a neutral state of a manual transmission; an acceleration pedal sensor detecting an operating state of an acceleration pedal; an engine RPM sensor measuring the number of rotation of an engine; a vehicle speed sensor measuring speed of a vehicle; an EPB driving unit electronically operating and releasing a parking brake; and a control unit automatically releasing an EPB by controlling the EPB driving unit in case a state of a vehicle reaches a transmission point in an EPB locking state after learning a transmission point of a manual transmission through the neutral switch, the acceleration pedal sensor, the engine RPM sensor, and the vehicle speed sensor. |
