PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for processing images.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for processing images where specific frames are selectively decoded among received images, when performance required for decoding images received from at least one camera exceeds decoding performance supported internally. The image processing apparatus receives and stores images from at least one or more cameras or performs display processing. The image processing apparatus includes: a performance calculating unit to calculate first decoding performance on the basis of codec, resolution and frame-rate information of images which are received from cameras individually; and a filtering unit to selectively provide specific frames in the images received from cameras individually when the sum of the first decoding performances exceeds second decoding performance, which indicates pre-stored decoding performance of the image processing apparatus. |
