Method for installing a modular surface cleaning system by providing a frame and a substantially beam shaped cleaning unit (4) for cleaning a flat surface (3), wherein said frame comprises two elongated spaced apart parallel casings (1), wherein each end of said cleaning unit (4) is mounted to a respective one of said casings (1) in such a manner that said cleaning unit (4) is movable between said casings (1) in the longitudinal direction of said casings (1), wherein one of said casings (1) is provided with a movable actuator engaging one of said outer ends of said cleaning unit (4) for achieving said movement, wherein said casing (1) with said movable actuator built up of at least two, and as many as necessary to cover a desired length, elongated modular casing units (11) arranged adjacent one another such that two outer ends of respective ones of said modular casing units (11) extend against one another, wherein each casing unit (11) comprises a movable actuator unit mounted thereto for engaging said outer ends of said cleaning unit (4), wherein the outer ends of said actuator units of said adjacent casing units (11) are located near one another, and wherein said actuator units are arranged to transfer said outer ends of said cleaning unit (4) from the outer end of the actuator unit in one casing unit (11) to the nearby outer end of the actuator unit in the adjacent casing unit (11). In a preferred embodiment at least three, and as many as necessary to cover a desired length, casings (1) are being installed having one common motor driven shaft. |
