<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable both improvement of fuel economy performance of an internal combustion engine and supply of necessary amount of negative pressure to a brake booster.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine includes: a variable valve timing mechanism that can change valve closing timing of an intake valve; and a brake booster 5 for increasing brake tread force by using intake negative pressure. Based on an operating state of the internal combustion engine when a brake pedal is depressed, if the possibility that negative pressure in the brake booster 5 may run short when the brake pedal is depressed subsequently is determined, the valve closing timing of the intake valve is advanced compared to the case where such possibility is not determined.</p> |
