<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine whether or not abnormality has occurred in an image carrier and a charging member without requiring a relatively expensive part such as a humidity sensor as an essential component.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 1 of the present invention includes an image carrier 7, a charging member 8 that charges the image carrier 7, a voltage application unit 34 that applies a voltage to the charging member 8, a control unit 31 that controls the voltage applied by the voltage application unit 34, and a current measuring unit 35 that measures a current flows into the charging member 8 from the voltage application unit 34. When the voltage application unit 34 has applied a predetermined voltage to the charging member 8 for a certain period, if the amount of an increase in the current measured by the current measuring unit 35 exceeds a predetermined threshold, the control unit 31 determines that dew condensation can occur on the image carrier 7 and performs dew condensation prevention operation for preventing dew condensation on the image carrier 7, where the state in which dew condensation can occur on the image carrier 7 includes a state in which dew condensation occurs on the image carrier 7 when the air outside an apparatus is taken in.</p> |
