<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which can determine the presence of a printing medium on a transportation path in a simple constitution without taking much space.SOLUTION: The printer comprises a printer body 2 having a discharge port 5a that discharges a printing medium PM, a transportation path provided in the printer body, through which the printing medium is transported to the discharge port, transportation means that transports the printing medium along the transportation path, printing means that prints on the printing medium to be transported on the transportation path, control means C that changes printer setting, and a pair of electrodes T1, T2 provided so that different poles may array along the longitudinal direction of the printing medium in the transportation path. The control means determines that the printing medium is present on the transportation path when the pair of electrodes are electrified and determines that the printing medium is absent on the transportation path when the pair of electrodes are not electrified, so that the printing setting is changed on the basis of the determination.</p> |
