METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY PROFILE OF ROCKS IN A WELLBORE

A casing string with temperature sensors fastened to the outside surface thereof is lowered into a wellbore, and cement is pumped into the annular space between the casing string and the walls of the wellbore. During the pumping and setting of the cement, temperature measurements are taken, and the thermal conductivity of the rocks surrounding the wellbore is determined according to the temperature-time relationship observed.
