PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anode active material, an anode containing the anode active material, a lithium battery adopting the anode, and a method of manufacturing the lithium battery.SOLUTION: Disclosed is an anode active material containing an oxide of porous transition metal, an anode containing the same, a lithium battery adopting the same, and a method of manufacturing the same. The anode active material contains the oxide of the porous transition metal. The oxide of the porous transition metal is the anode active material containing one or more oxides of transition metal selected form a group consisting of Mo, Ti, V, and W. A pore of the oxide of the porous transition metal has a diameter of 2 to 50 nm.
