PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil pump of which a maximum value of a discharge quantity of oil per one stroke is exactly determined and a portable work machine.SOLUTION: A release stop pin 14 provided on an adjuster shaft 15 is engaged with an inclination part 12a of a lid part 12, whereby release of the release stop pin 14 from the lid part 12 of the adjuster shaft 15 energized by a second spring 13 is prevented. When the adjuster shaft 15 is rotated with respect to the lid part 12, the release stop pin 14 is slid on the inclination part 12a, and an axial position of the adjuster shaft 15 is changed. The release stop pin 14 contacts wall parts 12b at both ends of the inclination part 12a, whereby a rotatable range of the adjuster shaft 15 with respect to the lid part 12 is restricted. An end surface 15a of the adjuster shaft 15 is engaged with an end surface 10c of a center shaft part, whereby the adjuster shaft 15 engages a pump gear shaft 10.
