According to an embodiment of the present invention, when a plurality of candidate to be selected as a point of interest (POI) during extraction of the POT from a document, one POI is accurately selected based on relation among the POIs in a subject area of the document or in the document. A technology for extracting a POI from a document is expected to significantly contribute to a technology for collecting and managing travel information, and is also expected to substantially increase accuracy and a reproduction rate for extracting a POI from a document. According to an embodiment of the present invention, a method for eliminating ambiguity of POI extraction includes a step of extracting a POI of a document corresponding to a POI mention among multiple POI candidates based on at least one from an area, frequently mentioned in the documents, POI mention, and weighted values of the POI candidates based on relation among the POI candidates when the multiple POI candidates, corresponding to POI mentions detected from a certain document, are searched in a database.
