A vehicle includes an engine, first and second motor generators, a power split device, a propeller shaft, an automatic transmission, and an ECU. The power split device includes a carrier, a sun gear, and a ring gear respectively coupled to a crankshaft of the engine, a rotor of the first motor generator, and a rotation shaft of the second motor generator. The automatic transmission is provided between the second motor generator and a propeller shaft. When the first motor generator has a malfunction, the ECU restricts gear shift performed by the automatic transmission, as compared with a case where the second motor generator has a malfunction.

1. A vehicle comprising:
an internal combustion engine; first and second rotating electrical machines; a power split device including first to third rotating elements respectively coupled to an output shaft of said internal combustion engine and rotation shafts of said first and second rotating electrical machines; a drive shaft; a transmission provided between said second rotating electrical machine and said drive shaft; and a control unit that controls said transmission, when said first rotating electrical machine has a malfunction, said control unit restricting gear shift performed by said transmission, as compared with a case where said second rotating electrical machine has a malfunction.
