This in-vehicle electric system is provided with: a drive circuit (10) that drives an electric motor (2); a first smoothing capacitor (20) that stabilizes an output voltage applied between two power supply input electrodes (11, 12) of the drive circuit (10); a drive signal generating section (S104) that outputs control signals to the drive circuit (10); a first discharge resistor (30) that is connected between a positive electrode and a negative electrode of the first smoothing capacitor (20); a first discharge switching section (40), which is connected in series to the first discharge resistor (30) between the positive electrode and the negative electrode of the first smoothing capacitor (20), and which disconnects or connects between the positive electrode and the negative electrode of the first smoothing capacitor (20); and an off signal generating section (S100) that outputs off signals to the first discharge switching section (40).
