Provided is a hard coating film having, in particular, excellent oxidation resistance, high hardness, and excellent abrasion resistance relative to such conventional hard coating films as TiSiN, TiAlSiN, TiCrAlSiN, and AlCrSiN. The hard coating film of the present invention is characterized by having the compositional formula (TiαCr1-α)1-aGea(C1-xNx), the atomic ratios of each element satisfying the expressions 0 ≤ α ≤ 1, 0.010 ≤ a ≤ 0.20, and 0.5 ≤ x ≤ 1. |
