<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine, which can avoid the occurrence of an excessive temperature rising condition of an exhaust gas purifying catalyst and suppressing the deposit in an EGR system to improve merchantability. <P>SOLUTION: The control device 1 of the internal combustion engine 3 provided with the EGR system 11 and the exhaust gas purifying catalyst 8 switches the operation condition of the internal combustion engine 3 from a rich operation to a purge operation corresponding to a required torque TRQ and after that, changes the condition to a normal operation (step 20-24). In the switching from the rich operation to the purge operation, when it is determined that the temperature Tcat of the exhaust gas purifying catalyst 8 does not exceeds the predetermined upper limit Tlimit, the rich operation is switched to the purge operation, and when it is determined that the temperature of exhaust gas purifying catalyst 8 exceeds the predetermined upper limit Tlimit, the rich operation is continued (step 35-37, 2-9). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
