In a blow torch comprising gas and air supply pipes 1, 2 respectively provided with rotary plug valves 10, 11 in transversely aligned housings 8, 9, a suspension hook 20 is slidably arranged on one of the pipes (1) and is coupled by a link 21, to the actuating lever 12 of the gas supply valve 10 so that when suspended by the hook, the weight of the torch causes relative movement between the hook and the torch to actuate the gas supply valve 10 to closed position, the actuating levers 12, 13 of the two valves 10, 11 being additionally provided with co-operating cam and lug members 17, 18 whereby, with the two valves closed the air supply valve 11 cannot be opened without first opening the gas supply valve 10, and with the two valves open, closing movement of the gas supply valve 10 effects simultaneous closing of the air supply valve 11. As shown the cam 17 is keyed to the end of the plug valve 10 opposite that carrying the actuating lever 12, and the co-operating lug 18 is formed as an extension of the actuating lever 13 of the air supply valve 11, a nose 18a of the lug abutting the end of the cam 17 in the fully closed position of both valves to prevent actuation of the valve 11. The suspension hook 20 is carried by a sleeve 19 embracing the pipe 1 and having a bifurcation 24 to embrace the pipe 2 to prevent rotation of the sleeve. The sleeve 19 carries also the link 21 which has a recess 22 in its free end for engagement by a pin or roller 23 carried by the actuating lever 12 of the gas supply valve 10. |
