PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wastewater treatment system capable of treating organic wastewater at a low cost and with low environmental loads.SOLUTION: The wastewater treatment system includes: an upflow type filtration tank which is provided with a surfacing filter material layer comprising a surfacing filter material, an upper screen disposed at the upper part of the surfacing filter material layer to support the surfacing filter material, a wastewater inflow port disposed below the surfacing filter material layer, and a backwashing device for backwashing the surfacing filter material layer, and filters wastewater flowing in from the wastewater inflow port by the surfacing filter material layer; a sludge recovery device for recovering sludge in backwashed wastewater discharged from the filtration tank when the surfacing filter material layer is backwashed; and a digestion tank for subjecting the sludge recovered by the sludge recovery device to methane fermentation treatment. |
