<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base isolation retrofit method capable of eliminating temporary receiving member for a temporary installation such as a jack as well as an earthquake strengthening material which are conventionally required for cutting a structural member to install a base isolation device. <P>SOLUTION: A base isolation retrofit method: constructs a new wall 5 on an open frame made up of an existing foundation beam 2, existing columns 3 and an existing upper floor beam 4; cuts and removes column sections of the existing columns 3, where base isolation devices 8 are to be installed, to transfer a building load to the new wall 5; installs the base isolation devices 8 in the cut and removed column sections 7; constructs upper and lower base isolation device foundations 9 for the base isolation devices 8; and cuts and removes a portion of the new wall 5 in a slit shape to transfer the building load to the base isolation devices 8. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT</p> |
