The present invention relates to a device for providing a pose library executing a method for providing a 3D animation character pose library. The device for providing a pose library includes: a data source management unit which manages the respective data sources for one or more animation characters having skeleton structures; a thumbnail pose image generation unit which generates a thumbnail pose image displaying the pose of the animation character selected according to a user control signal in a specific direction; an intuitive pose image generation unit which collects pose information including at least one of the joint point location information, joint point movement information, and skeleton structure information from the data sources related to the selected animation character and generates an intuitive pose image based on the collected pose information to display the pose and body ratio of the selected animation character based on the collected pose information; and a pose library providing unit which outputs the generated thumbnail pose image and intuitive pose image onto a screen through a pre-defined pose library window.
