848,538. Retractive switches. HERMLE, E. March 11, 1959 [April 12, 1958; Feb. 2, 1959], No. 8365/59. Class 38 (5). A limit switch has a sealed space 14 in which the switch 48 is preserved from dirt &c. by the diaphragm 72 through which pressure is applied to operate the switch. The diaphragm is stretched over a plate 60 apertured at 61 to allow the thickened portion of the diaphragm to transmit pressure from a pin 39 depressed by actuating member 20. An adjusting-screw 53 limits the travel of pin 39 to preserve the switch from damage. The thickened portion of the diaphragm is surrounded by a corrugation 86 to improve flexibility. A plurality of switches 48 and actuating-members 20 may be provided in one unit. In a modification a cylindrical (preferably metal) stud 83 may be provided in the diaphragm to transmit the switching pressure. |
