Embodiments of the present invention provide a method, network device, and system for sending and receiving a packet, where the method for sending a packet includes: fragmenting, by a first network device, a first Hello packet, where each Hello fragment packet has a fragment ID and a content identifier; sending, by the first network device, fragment brief information of the first Hello packet to a second network device, where the fragment brief information of the first Hello packet includes fragment information of each Hello fragment packet; and sending, by the first network device, the Hello fragment packet corresponding to the first Hello packet if the first network device receives a request packet sent by the second network device. The embodiments of the present invention further provide the network device and the system for sending and receiving the Hello packet. By using technical solutions provided in the embodiments of the present invention, network bandwidth occupied to send the Hello packet is effectively reduced. |
