A catalyst is obtainable by application to a finely divided inorganic support and concluding calcination at 350-1050[deg]C. It has chromium content of 0.1-5 wt.% and a zirconium content of 0.5-10 wt.%, in each case based on the element in the finished catalyst, with the molar ratio of zirconium to chromium of 0.6-5. Independent claims are also included for: (A) a process for preparing the inventive catalyst comprising preparing an inorganic, finely divided support; applying a chromium compound to the finely divided support; applying a zirconium compound to the support, if appropriate, removing the solvent from the solid; and calcining the solid at 350-1050[deg]C, preferably 400-950[deg]C under oxidative conditions; (B) a process for preparing an ethylene polymer by polymerization of ethylene, and if appropriate, 3-20C olefins as comonomers in the presence of the polymerization catalyst; (C) an ethylene homopolymer or copolymer obtainable by the process; and (D) a fiber, film, or molding comprising polymers of olefins, preferably as components.
|
