<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a setting method capable of accurately setting an imaginary line parallel to a core wire of a construction component, and a pair of imaginary line setting jigs for setting the imaginary line, as well as an installation method for installing a linearity measuring device on a construction component by using the jigs. <P>SOLUTION: A mark-off line 31 is drawn in a position where an imaginary line passing through the component center 32 of a steel pipe 3 and the end face of the steel pipe 3 cross each other. Then, a template 20 is arranged on each of both end faces of the steel pipe 3, and it is checked whether the position of a linear mark 212 of the template 20 corresponds to the position of the mark-off line 31 drawn on the steel pipe 3 or not. If the position of the mark 212 corresponds to the position of the mark-off line 31, the template is fixed. Then, a laser irradiator 222 is arranged above a reference point 221a of an upper side template 20U.
